DR. DOG news
most of the news is old, some of it is brand new.
April 17 2008
Hey FolksWe've got a bunch of emails asking if there are ways to get into the Mercury Lounge show and the Hotel Cafe one too. The bad news is, they're all full up and no amount of sucking your gut in is gonna help with that. The good news is, we'll be back pretty soon to do some more shows in both towns. We decided to tell you now so you could tie a string a round your finger or... however you do it, and get tickets when they go on sale.
On Monday April 21 at 9:00am TWO more New York City Shows go on sale.
On Saturday May 3rd at 12:00 pm ONE more Los Angeles show will go one sale.

Tickets have been selling pretty quick so, if you're thinking about making the trip you might want to think fast cause they get more expensive as time goes on.
see you there!

Hey FolksWell the cat's out of the bag. All this time in the studio seems to have paid off and it looks as though there is a record finished.
We're gonna call it FATE and you can take from that whatever you want. We can't tell you much, but we can tell you that when we sit back and listen, we're real happy with the way things turned out.
We spend a lot of time together, maybe more than any person should spend with another, but that's not a complaint. It's to say that when you spend this much time with a bunch of dudes, you learn from one another and you learn something about yourself. Not sure what that's got to do with anything, but at the moment we listen to this record and think that all the time we spend together has as much to do with the album as anything else.
As it happens we've got a calendar full of tour dates and a heap of new songs that we're getting excited to play and in some cases.. learn to play. For now we can let you know that it's all about to creep up on you. Consider yourself warned, FATE is upon you July 22 and we can't wait to see you.

Hey FolksAt long last this remix 7" inch has arrived! One side has got Beck's remix of The Girl and the other side has got our remix of Heart It Races which is an Architecture in Helsinki song. There are two ways to get the 7".
WAY NUMBER 1: Get it for free - ish: In the spirit of retail sales everywhere boasting huge savings with bright signs on presidents birthday's, you can go to any of the independent record stores listed below and get a remix 7" for free if you buy We All Belong (on CD or the 12" Vinyl) or Easy Beat.
WAY NUMBER 2: Buy it at a show. If you already have, or don't really want the full lengths just pick up a 7" at a show, we'll have them beginning this weekend.
**fine print** both WAYS have their limitations in that supplies are limited.
**While we're on the topic** AIH's new album is out now an it's not something you are going to want to put off listening to.

Dr Dog On your TV, iPod, and your turntableHey Folks
Been a lot of emails lately but, what can we say, there's a lot going on. First off, we'll let you in on a little secret so that, if you're so inclined, you can plan accordingly. On March 12th Dr. Dog will make a trip to New York City for the expressed purpose of playing a song on Conan O'Brien's TV show! We're looking forward to it and fully intend to talk some of Mr. Weinberg's band into sitting in. I wonder if they will?
Next up just a reminder about that WE ALL BELONG is a week away from being available on iTunes, beginning 2.20.07. If you've got the fancy video iPod, you can even get the video for My old Ways for free... even if you don't have the iPod you can watch it on your computer. Either way there is a free bonus track on this iTunes release which requires no additional fanciness. As a not so dull side note our label Park The Van is gonna send out a reminder to their mailing list on Tuesday. We happen to know that included in that reminder email will be a link to some free, not heard until right then live tracks. You may want them. To be on that email list go to Park The Van dot Com. (http://www.parkthevan.com/home.php)
Merch People: We're hitting the road in a few days and that means we need merch people again. If you want to help sell merch at a show in your area please email Brian@foundationsmusic.com. (please do not send to myspace). This gets you in the show for free, and in many cases we can get a friend of yours in to help! It's first come first serve. Let Brian know if you want to help out!
Finally, some more information on the free 7". People have been writing in asking how to get this, and here's the answer: Below is a list of stores, separated by city. Each of these stores has a limited number of this 7" and none of them will charge you for it! If you buy WE ALL BELONG from these fine independent establishments they'll happily hand it over to you for free so long as they still have copies of it. The 7" has a newly mixed and mastered version of Goner on one side and a new song that's never been released called "I Hope There's Love" on the other. Like they say on TV ads, supplies are limited and there are no plans to make more of them so when they're gone, they're gone. WE ALL BELONG is available in these stores on 2.27.07.

Hey Folks,Well here we go. The new record's in the record copier an they're making a bunch of them. To celebrate we've got some festivities planned just about everywhere you can have a festivity. So, get a pencil and some paper to tack on the fridge and jot this stuff down.
WE ALL BELONG is what we're calling the album (nice ring huh?) and you can start picking it up next month, on the 27th of February. There's a bunch of related stuff, for instance we made a 7" and it's got an unreleased song called "Hope There's Love" on there as well as a new mix of "Goner". You can get the 7 for free by pre-ordering the Album at certain stores and we'll tell you all about that on February 1st.
We All Belong is also available early (February 13th) if you get it on iTunes. The iTunes route yields a similar result as this pre-order business in that you'll get "Hope There's Love" for free. If you're an iPod lover you might want to know that you'll be able to download our first video for free when you buy the album too. I guess then you can listen to the song and watch the video on that little screen there, which seems awfully dangerous but you're old enough to decide for yourself.
If you'd rather watch your music video's on a slightly larger display, well we've got some good news. On February 2nd MTV2 will premier the video for "My Old Ways" on their web site and then on February 4th they'll give it to ya on Subterranean, that's on the TV.
Regarding the previously mentioned festivities just about all of the tour dates for the Spring are up.
February 16th is our record release party in Philadelphia at Johnny Brenda's. We've gone and picked up a String section for this show and added some horns too. ( you have to hear the album for this to really make sense, but it does). There are a few tickets left for this one and you can get them here: http://www.johnnybrendas.com/
The Strings and Horns will be back for a show in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom on April 5th. That show is 18+ and you can get tickets for it here:
http://boweryballroom.com/index.php
Below is the rest of the show's we have coming up. Come say hi, looking forward to seeing you soon.

Hey FolksWell it's all over, we're home and done touring for the year and we could not have picked a better band to finish up with than The Black Keys. Thanks to everyone that came out early to check us out and for being so nice about it along the way, and to the Keys guys too for being way cooler than anyone needs to be. I think everyone was pretty worn out going into that last little bit, but those Keys shows were just what the doctor ordered.
As you may or may not know we have this new album coming out, that's gonna happen in February, on the 27th to be exact. Now let's get one thing out of the way first: We're playing a show in Philadelphia at Johnny Brenda's on February 16th and it will be our CD release party! Well before the release date - YES but a CD release party none the less. This is the first place to get yer mits on We All Belong and to celebrate we've gone and made sure there will be a string section and horn section on call for that evening. We've wanted to do this for a long time and couldn't be happier to make it happen in Philadelphia. You can get tickets here: http://www.johnnybrendas.com/?p=77
While we're on the subject, there are tons of shows scheduled for next year for what will be our first headlining tour of the US and we'll have the new album with us at each of them. We don't have all the shows booked yet but below is what we got. There are plenty more to come. For more information on any of the dates below go to drdogmusic.com , it'll be there.

I don't want to bother you, but ... I mean some people want to know this stuff. The Black Keys tour is going really well, you can't believe how cool these guys are. They're the Black Keys, they don't need to be cool, but they are. So we're having a great time. Thanks to all of you who have come out early to see us play!
So, there's been a lot of stuff going on and rather than bombard you with a regular old email everyday we figured we'd wait and put it all in one Super Email. It's called The Super Email.
Yesterday (was it yesterday?) we played on the air at a Minnesota Public Radio station 89.3. You can hear that by clicking the link below:
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2006/11/29/dr_dog/
Also - the Independent Film Channel is doing what seems to be a really cool thing with eMusic where they profile new(-ish) artists, it's called Dozens. They did an episode that features Dr Dog, Joanna Newsom, M Ward, The PIxies, Fiery Furnaces, and Neko Case. It airs throughout December on IFC, times and dates are below:
Tue, Dec. 5 at 12:35 AM EST
Wed, Dec. 6 at 07:00 PM EST
Sun, Dec. 10 at 02:10 PM EST
Tue, Dec. 12 at 12:50 AM EST
Tue, Dec. 12 at 11:35 AM EST
Sat, Dec. 16 at 06:30 AM EST
Mon, Dec. 18 at 12:40 AM EST
Tue, Dec. 19 at 12:35 AM EST
Tue, Dec. 26 at 06:15 PM EST
Thu, Dec. 28 at 12:50 AM EST
Thu, Dec. 28 at 12:40 PM EST
OK, next up is the Fast Food Nation soundtrack which was released just a few weeks back with some awesome bands including Elvis Perkins, Friends Of Dean Martinez, Nortec Collective, Spoon, The Capitol Years is available in stores now and online now. Anyway, Dr Dog has a track on the soundtrack called "Worst Trip" which will also appear on our new record. You can check The Fast Food Nation soundtrack out here: http://fastfoodnationsoundtrack.com/
Speaking of our new record....here we go: We All Belong will be released on February 27th 2007.. fine, we know that. But there are many twists and turns along the way my friends. Maybe in the next two weeks we will announce a full US tour? Maybe it will be the first time we headline a US tour.. who knows? It could be that the record is available at a show before its available at any store, I wonder where that show would be?
Finally - The Philly show at Johnny Brendas sold out right quick and the venue called and said that people keep trying to buy tickets and we don't want anyone to be mad...so we'll fix it! Keep an eye out for another JBs show to be added before we go on tour again. You know, if I were going to sell my record at a show before stores got it I might jus...ah well, what do i know.
See you soon

Hey FolksDr Dog needs a few good hands to help sell MERCH on our upcoming Black Keys tour. We need one person at each of the shows below in return, you'll get into the show for FREE!!
Merch folks will be asked to sell from the time doors open until Dr Dog go on stage. After Dr Dog are finished playing you'll be asked to sell for the remainder of the night. If you really want to see the whole Black Keys gig its probably not a good idea to sign up for this gig but we will figure out ways for people to take breaks so you can catch parts of the Keys set too.
This is on a first come first serve basis so if you want to come down and help out please email: Brian@Foundationsmusic.com. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL THE MYSPACE ACCOUNT.
Thanks

Hi Y'all.Well we're off to the UK today to play some shows and, after a quick stop for Thanksgiving dinner we're back on the road in the states with The Black Keys, so yeah things are going well. After the Black Keys shows we're gonna take some time off, and catch our breath before the new record comes out February 27th 2007!! It's been a long time comin and to be straight with you, we're all really excited about it.
Anyway - before this time off I speak of really gets underway we're going to do one more show with our friends Me Without You, who we never get to play with!! It's gonna be awesome. Ok Ok, before I get to excited there are some things you need to know.
We're playing at Johnny Brendas on Dec 21st and tickets go on sale NEXT WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 15th!! Well if they are not on sale why am I telling you now? Because the club is kinda small and if you want to get tickets you should probably do so sooner than later, probably even the day they go on sale. We will post the link to buy tickets on Wednesday...see you there

Two days from now we start our Fall tour and we're really excited to be back on the west coast. It's been awhile since we've made it out there. SIX days from now while the aforementioned Fall tour is well underway, on new EP comes out and needless to say we're pretty darned excited for that too. Next Tuesday Sept 12th you can buy TAKERS AND LEAVERS anywhere you wanna buy it and to celebrate that fact, we're gonna put up another song from the EP on Myspace right now. This little number caries the name "California" and the reason for that title becomes obvious with a listen or two. We hope you like it!

NEW SONGeFriends and eNeighbors,
We've been hard at work masterminding a fall tour schedule and finishing recording projects.
There is news...kind of.
Firstly, NEW SONG. There's a new song on our MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/drdog). It's called "Ain't It Strange" and it's from our ep TAKERS AND LEAVERS.
The ep will be released on September 12th but there is something else. We made 1000 ep packages by hand.. well we didn't actually make the package we just put all the art work on it. They're all different and you can see what they look like if you go to our web site on the second page of "SIGHTS". (drdogmusic.com) Also, if you play Ain't It Strange on Myspace you'll see one of the handmade covers.
Anyway, these first 1000 ep's will be available early on August 29th. In 1 week we will post a list of stores where you can pick one up if you are so inclined.
In other news next week we'll be announcing a Fall trip to the UK. For now we've added a date in Minnesota at the end of November with The Black Keys and there will be more Nov/Dec dates in the US coming soon

Good monday fair people, here is some album/EP info. check it:Dr. Dog is gonna release the new LP in February 2007 it does not have a title, or a cover, but it does have some songs so a track listing should be available in the next ... i dunno, 8 weeks or so.
In the mean time, check it:
We will release an EP on September 12, 2006. It does have a title and that title is, TAKERS AND LEAVERS named after the Dr Dog EP. It also has a cover and I'm sure we can figure out some way to post it up here somewhere.
TAKERS AND LEAVERS will contain 4 EP tracks and two songs – “Ain’t It Strange” & “Goner” - from the upcoming LP. So, you can kind of see where this is going right? By including two LP songs you can kind of hear a little of the LP and sort of hear what it sounds like and also there are these other 4 songs we really like. It's going to be cool.
Track Listing for TAKERS AND LEAVERS:
1. Ain’t It Strange
2. Goner
3. I’ve Just Got To Tell You
4. Die, Die, Die
5. California
6. Live In A Dream
Tour Dates:

June 22 2006
Hi there.. ok, we've shaken off the suck of having to cancel the last few shows cause our van broke. After limping home we've agreed it's time to put the Ol' family van on the market and buy a newer, used, slightly more functional vehicle. There's even talk about getting air conditioning this time around. To celebrate we're staring our nemesis (in this case the highway) in the eyes and hitting back hard. Look at the new tour dates for the fall, they rule. We're really excited to announce we'll be supporting The Raconteurs and you'll see some TBA dates in there as well. Those are NOT Raconteurs dates they are club shows that we'll play ourselves, the rooms will be announced in the next few days.
There is tons more in the works so check back soon. We are working on West Coast dates right now and the Midwest will happen later in the fall as well!!
June 17 2006
Maybe you saw this coming. Despite our greatest efforts to once again be mobile we regret to announce that we will not finish the scheduled tour with the Spinto Band.We know more about Atlanta now than even before having spent the better part of the last three days here, 14 hours from where we are supposed to be.
To everyone that had planned to come out, we apologize for not being able to make it. This is a trip that we've looked forward to for months and we're all really disappointed to be dealing with van problems rather than playing shows.
We will be back soon and make sure we hot the cities we missed this time around.
The Spinto Band and Lovely Feathers will of course still be playing so make sure to check them out!
Dr Dog
June 16 2006
another set cancelation!!! Dr Dog cannot play in Chicago tonight SPINTO AND LOVELY FEATHERS ARE STILL PLAYING!!!!well kids, things are NOT going as planned. We're still in Atlanta.. in fact, we've not moved since the post last night. The ol' van is just bein kind of Ol' which is to say, not working. We will not be able to make it to Chicago tonight! We're so sorry to miss the show, we have been looking forward to playing in Chicago since we were last year. It's always fun and was certainly going to be a tour highlight.
We will be back as soon as we can. The other bands on the bill are still playing, and it'll rock! Have fun, we'll miss you.
June 15 2006
Dr Dog will not be playing in Nashville tonight but ALL OTHER BANDS ARE STILL PLAYINGit was all going so well, driving from state to state, playing some shows, meeting some folks.. maybe too well.
So the vans broke! we spent the day in a garage outside of Atlanta waiting for the van to get unbroke and as it turned out it was ready just in time for us to leave Atlanta and (provided we drove fast and didn't hit traffic) we would arrive in Nashville in dramatic fashion just as we were supposed to hit the stage.
Well the short story is that the fixed van was not fixed, which we discovered not 15 minutes from the garage that had been fixing it.
We will not be able to make it to Nashville tonight!!! As you can imagine we'd much rather get to play this show than sit in the broken van not going anywhere but, for tonight, that is our plot in life.
We're really sorry if you had planned on heading out to the show to see out set. The other bands are still playing so you should still go!!! see you soon Nashville

Hey Y'all.
Thought some of you may be interested in knowing that the live recording of "Oh No" originally played on KEXP will be featured on The Morning Show with John Richards tomorrow (JUNE 13) on the same station. Remember, KEXP is on the west coast so the morning show is kind like a pre-afternoon show if you're on the East Cost.
BUT WAIT - if you happen to miss Mr. Richards spin not to worry. "Oh No" is also the Song Of The Day on the KEXP podcast. This means that you can just go here to subscribe to the podcast for Itunes or here to subscribe to the podcast with something other than Itunes.
The thing of it is, is you should probably listen to this station anyways, they play great music and are constantly playing stuff before anyone else, but it is kinda nice to have that podcast in your back pocket should you miss the show.
Hope everyone is well.
Oh hey - The shows this weekedn were awesome. Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out. We hope you had at least half the fun that we did. It was super to play shows again!!
May 16 2006
hey! there's some new pictures up on the site. A bunch of live ones from a show in Transilvania and some shots from rehersal.
May 16 2006
Live...in the ComputerOK, this could get complicated so, try and stay with us.
There's a radio station called KEXP. It's a great station, probably one of the best in the country for finding good, new music etc. This station, this KEXP place is in Seattle so if you live in Seattle you can just tune into to listen on your radio. But, through the magical powers of the internet, you can listen to KEXP pretty much anywhere as long as you have a connection to the internet. Some of the younger readers will know that this is known as "streaming".
Now, KEXP, from Seattle has come to New York this week but they are still broadcasting in Seattle. Don't ask me how that works but something tells me the internet is involved here as well. During their time in New York, KEXP is inviting bands into the studio to play live shows. Basically, the band comes into the studio in New York City, to play a live set which is broadcast live, in Seattle. Go figure.
Dr Dog has been invited to play in the studio.
If you did well in your studies of the rules of logic, the you have no doubt deduced for yourself what I am about to reveal.......
Even though we are playing a live show in New York City, to be broadcast in Seattle, you can listen to this broadcast anywhere you are, as long as you have a connection to the internet.
All you have to do is go to: http://kexp.org and click LISTEN LIVE.
Friday May 19th
Dr Dog play at Noon.. but WAIT!!!!! Dr Dog play at Noon Eastern Standard Time, don't to adjust for your respective time zone.

So things are coming along. It's almost summer. Soon there will be new carbonated beverage contests and you can spend your days trying to win a new car or mountain bike or something. I sometimes wonder if that's a hoax. Do they announce the winners? For now, you can, if you are so inclined, come see Dr Dog. New dates are up with DD, Spinto Band and the Lovely Feathers! come say hi
April 12 2006
Check this out. In what is the most dramatic technological leap Dr Dog has ever taken, we now have an autmomated mailing list. We've been collecting mailing list names for a while now but they get lost, or you can't read them, and it takes so long to get it all entered that it just didn't work very well. Honestly, there is a very good possibility that if you don't get emails from us but you signed up on the mailing list at a show or something.. it's because something got screwed up along the way. Sorry about that.If you want to get updates of tour dates and stuff, take a minute to sign up now. Just click on "mailing list"

Great news!! TOOTHBRUSH has returned. After a few months of being totally out of Toothbrush it is back in stock. You can go to Cdbaby.com to buy it if you are so inclined.
November 29 2005
Hey y'all. So we're in the studio, have been now for a few weeks and things are going swimmingly well. We just posted a bunch of dates for 2006 so please check em out. We're going to take a little break from recording on New Years Eve to play at Irving Plaza with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and The National. In January we are playing our first headlining shows in the North East!! Come out and show some love.
Also in February we're real psyched to back overseas to play a bunch of dates with CYHSY! There are a few of those dates posted and tons more on the way.
October 20 2005
To all Dr. Dog payingattentioners, you are mighty!!! Thanks to everyone who came out to see the shows this tour. We had a full on goodtime. Special thanks to AIH, the specialist band in the world, holla! We're about to head into the studio to make a new audio recording but before we do, we're playing a benefit concert at the TLA with CYHSY for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. If you're in town, please come out and support the cause. 100% of the proceeds from this show go to charity. See you at the TLA.
September 28 2005
!!!!Ticket Special for the Troc show!!!!Hey, we have some good news for anyone who happens upon this little news blurb. The real nice folks at the Trocadero gave us 50, two-for-one tickets. That means that if you are on of the first 50 people to email: Brian@Foundationsmusic.com you can get 2 tickets to the Troc show for the price of one. There are a few ways to look at this. You could say that it's like getting a free ticket, or you could say that it's like getting two tickets cheaper than you could get one, you know, there are probably a few other variations, but the result is the same, you end up with an extra ticket to bring a friend or something. Just like on the TV though, this is a limited time offer, so act now!
Brian will tell you if you've made the cut..and how to pick up the tix.
September 15 2005
London was awesome, really, you should go if you've not yet been. We learned how to watch Cricket. It took everyone an hour to understand, except Toby who claimed to have it figured out in 10 minutes. Cricket rules. We also played some cool shows and met some cool people. There are a few pictures from the trip on our myspace page if you're curious. We also met the nice folks at Rough Trade who are putting our records out over there, and we of course thank them for that.We just played two shows in Boston, and they were cool and then tomorrow we play CMJ and that should be cool too. Then, we spend like 5 days driving straight from Philly to Seattle, that will probably not be very cool. Then we will tour with AIH, and that will definitely be cool. More cool than not cool.cool.
September 15 2005
Help Dr Dog on BBC 6. Ok there's this radio show in London on BBC 6 that is pretty cool. If you click here you can vote for that station to play "The World May Never Know". There's like three bands to choose from at the bottom of that page. You just click on "vote" underneath Dr Dog's name and you're done. Thanks for the help!
September 01 2005
Happy Septemeber. We're off the London tomorrow, wish us luck!! Thanks to everyone that came out to the Rittenhouse Square show last night and extra thanks to those of you who showed up the 2nd show at the Northstar. Oh and if you're reading this in London, we just added another show. Tomorrow, Friday the 2nd of Sept, 11:30 PM and the Camden Barfly. See you there....
August 26 2005
OK..we have some news. It could have been delivered in fits and starts, asking you to come here everyday and read about a new tour date or a cool review, but you're busy and with the two tone green thing happening, this news section is hard to read. So here it is in a nutshell.FALL TOUR DATES are up. We're going to the UK for a few days in September, then we're coming back to play a few shows with CYHSY and then we're going on the road with some of the best folks we know: Architecture in Helsinki. The shows are gonna be delightful and we're real happy about having the chance to play with them again.
EASY BEAT will be released on Rough Trade in Europe next Monday and what can we say..that's really cool.
July 21 2005
The news for today is that we will be reviewed on NPRs Fresh Air which will probably prove to be the largest body of listeners we've ever been exposed to.In other news Toby and his lovely and beautiful wife-to-be Sarah will tie the knot August 6, and we'll not have any shows until they're all settled and properly honeymooned. August 31st we play with our pals The Teeth in Rittenhouse Square and then we fly to London, UK for the first week of Septemeber.
June 21 2005
Hey everyone. This is the first news update in a long while, but don't think we've been taking it easy. We just returned from a tour opening for Architecture in Helsinki, who stole our hearts and blew our collective minds every single night. We would suggest you run to the nearest record store and buy their "In Case We Die" immediately. You'll find it stuffed somewhere between AC/DC and Men at Work, but in reality they're closer to the Beach Boys or Neutral Milk Hotel or David Bowie all strung together and played with reggae-like concision. Personally, their my favorite Australian band of all time, but let's not dwell on that. They are truly awesome, no matter which way your toilet spirals. So we played with Architecture and then we took a little detour to play at Bonnaroo. Andrew and I got free burritos from Taco Bell on the way, which was pretty cool, since it took them fifteen minutes to get our order together. The four hours after that were driven in sheets of hurricane blown rain but we finally made it. And then we're there at Bonnaroo and it's about 11 at night; we check in, all that and catch a one mile shuttle to the stage areas where we trudged blindly and bleary through ankle-deep mud, throngs of tripping hippies, and weird old dudes blissed on Trey doing the Abbey Road medley. We're pretty tired and wet but we're just happy to be there. We go to bed late and hardly get any sleep, but we get up early and set our stuff up on the Other Stage for our 1pm show. Show goes really well, we have a great time and the sound is great. After that, we were pretty much on our own, wandering around from stage to stage and seeing different stuff. We saw our friend Dugan, who was plays guitar with Matasyahu; then we saw Herbie Hancock playing a keytar, which really impressed Juston. Then we saw My Morning Jacket, who were incredible as always. Beyond that, we just ate some tasty foods in the tent and then got really tired. We slept that night at Juston's dad's N.C. mountain home, stretched out on the raw pine boards above the sound of the rushing water in the stream below. The end.
May 25 2005
We are all neighbors. Linked together by electrons thrust through tiny wires laid long ago and splattered against liquid crystal screens.and we have been bad neighbors. We've let the grass grow knee high which almost hides a stack of newspapers on our front porch. There's a broken down Wagoneer in the back yard and a dude that we've let sleep there who clearly has a drinking problem. You wouldn't care but he yells late at night at the height of his intoxication just before passing out.All the while Dr. Dog has continued to move through life, ignoring you, our neighbors by not keeping you up to date with what would be this very neighborly news section.
Well those days are over. Somewhere between our record coming out, playing 6 shows at SXSW and touring the country with Ambulance Ltd and Autolux, we saved up some money and bought a lawn mower. We're cleaning up! Washing the fence, cutting the grass and updating the news section. Now, this is a little like going on a diet, or quitting smoking. As of now we fully intend to update this site all the time, twice a day maybe, but the fat dude smoking a cigarette across the street probably fully intended to be running a marathon by now back on January 2nd, so we'll see how it goes.
We're about leave for tour with Architecture in Helsinki and Head of Femur in June and we're jazzed on that. Also, and how this did not seem news worthy until now I have no idea, we're playing Bonnaroo.
So details on the aforementioned dates are in the tour section. You can buy Toothbrush and Easy Beat on line. We're going on tour again, and maybe later on we'll put some new pictures up..just have to remember how to do that.
That's the news for now.
December 20 2004
CD ORDERS:Wow. The volunteers here at Dr. Dog HQ shipping and recieving has been working overtime these last few days to process the massive amounts of CDs people are requesting. Due to our antiquated packaging system, which requires us to find a box, cut the box to size, draw on the box, write out the address, tape the box after inserting an embossed and stickered, calligraph[er]ed (?) thank you notes in Queen's English, we're a bit overburdoned and, in the case of "toothbrush" a undersupplied. We're going to try to get all your orders out as soon as we possibly can, but the reality is that the human-produced CD takes time to produce. We're getting to it as fast as we can, so just hang in there.
November 04 2004
So it turns out the boring, managerial stuff that I spoke of last time turns out to be really exciting for everybody. Witness: Brian Winton is now our manager, and apart from being an excellent dude, he's already set up about four amazing shows his first day on the job. So this rules for pretty much everyone; and there's even better things to come!
October 30 2004
Time for your tri-monthly or so update, so here goes: Andrew is now a lawer; congrats, Jonesy; Zach broke his collarbone and Juston stabbed himself in the hand with flathead screwdriver but they're fine now; Scott is going to get a raise at work; Toby got a new dog, Asta, after the tragic death of Hunter S. Dog earlier this summer. Rest in Peace, little buddy.Other than that, our record Easy Beat is in the process of beingreleased by National Parking Records, which is an outgrowth of Devil in the Woods. Hopefully the record will be out some time later this/early next calendar year. There are some other exciting things cooking, but they're more like things that are exciting for us, and not necessarily exciting for you, the listener: Managerial, organizational stuff that gets us, as unorganized, uncoordinated people really stoked. We'll spare you.
August 23 2004
As far as news goes, there's nothing very urgent at the moment, although you can find an unreadably tiny version of a cool FADER mag writeup of us. Toby's got like four weddings to go to in September, so our next show won't happen until Sept. 25. Hang in there, folks.
July 12 2004
It's been a while since we've written about any happeningshere on the NEWS page, but we've actually been pretty busy. We just finished the MMJ/M.Ward tour, which was amazing once again; there was a nice writeup of us in the Philadelphia Weekly. There are alsosome great shows in the future, so check it out.
February 18 2004
Action! taking place in the Dr. Dog basement spawned by the aquisition of studio monitors, good microphones, a function ing 8 track and the invaluable advice of Bill Moriarity, a straight up good dude. Get ready for an awesome sounding album in the nearest of near futures. And speaking of solidity, Dr. Dog now features rhythm guitar styles of Andrew Jones, who's about a solid a dude as ever was.
All is good so let's just rock.
Also, check out a nice paragraph written about us from the Richmond Times Dispatch.
January 14 2004
Finally! After a long period of dormancy, the site is back up and running. As it turns out, there is a lot of news to report.Firstly, the big excitement is of course the upcoming tour with My Morning Jacket. You can find the dates for that here.
Other than that, we all have our own instruments and amplifiers now, which is incredible. We've been practicing and playing a bunch and I think it's sounding pretty good. While we are excited about the tour, it saddens us to know that Doug 'Truck' O'Donnell will be leaving the band after the D.C. show. He'll be moving on to other things but you can still catch him playing guitar in his other band Doublehorse and in the Conawingo Homeboys.
November 23 2002
Hello. I know you probably never thought it would happen, but Dr. Dog has a web page now. Although it's quite simple, I tried to make it colorful. So if this works out, you'll be able to check back here for updates about various Dr.Dog related activities. As for our current satus, we're seriously pursuing reparing the eight-track, which means we can remix all the material from the "toothbrush" CD and all the new stuff that never got transferred to disc. Other news includes possible touring in January. When we know more, you'll surely be the first to know.
